Do Not Grow Weary with Doing Good

Have you ever thought to yourself, “What’s the use?”  Yeah, me too.
Maybe, your a mother and you have done the dishes, what seems like one to many time, or you are a wife and have made dinner only to have your husband come home late, and picked up something on the way home?  Maybe it seems like you are the one always trying to get together with friends and yet you see them post on Instagram how they got together with someone else, and not invited you.  Maybe you have given money to the homeless family on the corner and then see them drive off in their brandnew SUV.
You start wondering what’s the use.  No one appreciates, what I do anyway, or they only take advantage of me.
Do you cry out to God, I’m tired, I’m tired of no one noticing what I do, I’m tired of being the only one volunteering, I’m tired of no one remembering me, or thinking of my needs.  Lord, What’s the use anyways?
Galatians 6:9, tells us, “Do not grow weary (Lose heart, be faint-hearted) in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not give up.

Wow, what a promise from God.  Don’t you just love the way, He meets us right where we are, shows that He knows and understands what we are going through, and then throws a promise right on top of it.  Like a little bit of ice cream on top of your apple pie.

I don’t know when we will reap, but I know it will be at the right time.   Maybe it comes when your kids grow up and have their own children, and suddenly they are calling and saying thank you.  Maybe it comes from a stranger who says, “Good Job”.

God’s promises are true, they are certain and you can take them to the bank.  So if you are struggling today, wondering if it’s all worth it, I am here to say to you, “Keep going”.  God sees you, God loves you and you will reap in due time.

Would they even accuse me?

Now as Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest came. And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked at him and said, "You also were with Jesus of Nazareth."....

And after a little while another saw him and said, "You also are of them"....

Then after about an hour had passed, another confidently affirmed, saying "Surely you are one of them; for you are a Galilean, and your speech shows it."...

Over the years I have heard this story told time and again.  Usually with the focus being the denials.
With many people claiming that they would never deny Jesus.  Or wondering what they would do, if their life was in danger.

But today, I want to focus on the fact that Peter was even accused.  I wonder, would anyone even accuse me? Outside of the people that I go to church with, who would accuse me of being with Jesus?
I pray that my light shines in such a way as to leave no doubt.

Would someone say with confidence, "you are one of them"?   Does my speech, what I say, how I say it show that I have been bought with a price?   Is my life different, so that even those that do not know me can see the difference?

As we approach Easter, ask yourself, "Is there enough evidence to accuse you?"   Not just from what you post on Facebook or tweet, but in how you live your life day in and day out.  Can your neighbors, employer, employees, customers, the cashier at the coffee shop, ect.  See a difference?

Please leave your comments and prayer requests.  God Bless You.

Do you want to be made well?

Have you ever had someone ask you a question where the answer seemed so obvious that you thought to yourself, "Well duh, what do you think?"
In Matthew 5:6 Jesus asks such a question. Now in Jerusalem there was a pool called Bethesda.
Around the area sick people, blind, lame and paralyzed laid.  And at a certain time an angel would come and stir up the water and whoever stepped into the water first would healed.
So in Chapter 5 of Matthew Jesus had come to the pool and encounters a man who had been sick for 38 years.  When Jesus sees this man, Jesus asks the man, "Do you want to be healed".
I can imagine this guy thinking, "Well duh, I have been sick for thirty-eight, I come here every day waiting for my opportunity to get into the pool but someone always gets there before me. What do you mean, do I want to be healed, why do you think I'm doing this?"
The next thing that Jesus tells the man, is not "Oh ok, carry on, continue what you have been doing and someday it might work".  No Jesus gives him something new to do. Jesus tells the man to, "Rise, take up your bed and walk".
Obviously what the man had been doing, hoping that someday he would make it to the pool, was not working.  It was time for a new approach.  Rise, take up your bed and walk.  So what did the man do?   Did he think about it?   Did he think, no, this is how everyone does it, so I will just wait until I have my chance.   Did he think, "you know I've been like this for 38 years, what if it doesn't work?  Will I make a fool of myself, if I try and fall?"  Did he search for a reason, an excuse not to do what Jesus said?   The Bible tells us that, "Immediately the man was made well, took his bed, and walked."
So what about us, what about me?  What question is Jesus asking us?   Do you want to be healthy? Do you want to get out of debt? Do you want to lose weight?   Do you want a better marriage?
Do you...., you fill in the blank.
And has Jesus not already told us what to do next?  A new approach?  Something that not everyone is doing?   Why are we fighting him?   Which is harder, drinking water, exercising, saying your sorry, making a phone call.... Or getting up and walking after 38 years?
I am praying that we will all give up the excuses and just start immediately doing what Jesus asks us to do.
Can you imagine how the man that Jesus encountered that day, how his life was changed forever?   How would your life change if you did what Jesus is asking you to do today?  Jesus only wants what's best for you, but if the man had chosen to just stay where he was, he never would have been healed.
So again, do you want to be made well? The choice is yours, the choice in mine.
Please write me and let me know what question in Jesus asking you and what is He telling you to do?
I would love to pray for you.
