Balanced Blood Sugar

If you find at this point that you are having problems losing weight, if you find yourself feeling tired or moody, then the problem may be your Blood Sugar.  If you are having any of these problems, then eating a that is on the moderate to low glycemic index.  What the glycemic index does is measure how a given food blood-sugar level with each food being assigned a numbered rating.  The lower the rating, the more gradual the infusion of sugars into the bloodstream and the more balanced the blood sugar.

High glycemic meals cause you to feel hungry soon after you eat.  Eating low glycemic meals reduces hunger cravings.  Foods that elevate your blood sugar can be foods high in sugar, pastas, bread, potatoes, white rice and high glycemic fruits.

Staying away from foods that are high on the glycemic index will help you feel better as you are losing weight, you will have more energy, and you will lose weight quicker.   There are many books and websites that will tell you the glycemic numbers of many common foods.

Of course you also want to keep in mind the other things we have discussed regarding what foods to eat and what foods to stay away from.  First make sure that the foods you are eating are clean, allergen free and that they have a low glycemic number.

Eliminating Allergenic and Addictive Foods

If you ask some people, they would tell you that they do not have any food allergies, because they only looked at allergies one way.  This was me, when I thought of food allergies, I thought of people that I knew that were allergic to strawberries or peanuts and if they ate those foods they would immediately have an allergic reaction and swell up, have a hard time breathing, maybe even need to go to the hospital.  So since I have never had a reaction like that to food, then I must not have any food allergies.
If this is you, this may or may not be true.  There are many reactions to food that indicates a food allergy, that we may have been ignoring.  Things like bloating, stuffy nose, constant colds, weight gain and other symptoms.  The problem is that we have been just living with these symptoms for so long, that we have just ignored them.  Remember food is to nourish your body, it is the fuel you need to be active, if you feel worse after a meal or tired and need a nap, then the food you eat is not doing what it supposed to do.   And to make matters worse, we often crave the foods that are killing us.
Some common foods that people are allergic to are gluten, dairy, soy and refined sugar.  Gluten is found in grains, it is the thick gooey stuff that makes things stick together.  Sensitivities to gluten can include bloating and feeling sick after a meal.
The best way to see if you have any of these common food allergies is to eliminate them from you diet for at least 30 days.  Once you do that, and are eating a clean diet, then you can reintroduce these foods one at a time over several days or weeks.  You may find that when  you eat any of these foods you feel sick right away or maybe can't sleep, or maybe feel sick the next day, or that you have gained weight over night.
Try this and you will have a better understanding of your body and what it needs and doesn't need to survive.

Increasing our Nutrient Intake

When you think of being malnourished, what comes to mind, starving kids in Africa, anorexic fashion models?   Do you know that you can be overweight and still be malnourished.  Malnourished just means, "poorly or wrongly fed; having poor or inadequate diet"  and that could describe most of the people living in the US today.
Most of our diets have an abundance of pre-packaged and/or fast food, with little or no nutrient value to what we eat.  We are eating and we are getting full, but we are not eating foods that actually help our bodies function.  Nutrients are the chemicals that our bodies need to live and grow.  They are used to build and repair tissues, regulate body processes and are converted to use for energy.
Nutrients can fall under two major categories,  micronutrients and macronutrients.  Micronutrients are required by our bodies in small quantities, whereas macronutrients are needed in larger quantities.  Micronutrients include Vitamins A-K and carotenoids. while macronutrients include cargohydrates, proteins and fats.   Although both are needed, most people get too much macronutrients and not enough micronutrients.
Also, not only are we not eating the right foods that contain the nutrients that we need, there is a serious deficiency of micronutrients in the foods that should provide these nutrients.  50% of the world cereal soils are deficient in zinc, and 30% of cultivated soils are deficient in iron.
So besides eating whole foods everyone needs to add good supplements to fill the void created from the deficient soils.

Eating Clean

Maybe you are familiar with the term, "Eating Clean", maybe you have heard the term and not sure if you know what it means and maybe this is a new term for you.  Whatever the case, I am going to explain what I mean when I say, "eating clean" just so we are all on the same page.
Eating clean means eating whole foods that are organic, free from preservatives, additives, pesticides, hormones, antibiotics, artificial flavors and other toxins.  It's getting as close as possible to eating food how God intended for us to eat.
If you think about it, God made us so He knows what is the best fuel to put in our bodies so that we operate most efficiently.
It's like when you buy a vehicle, the manufacturer will tell you what kind of fuel is needed to make the vehicle operated efficiently.  If you don't follow the manufactures suggestions then you may find that your vehicle, is sluggish, knocks, etc.  Just doesn't run right.
Will God is our manufacturer and if we eat food the way he made it, free from all the things listed above then we, like our vehicle will run better.
Now there are things that we put in our bodies, that let's face we all know is not good for us.  Things that are processed and man-made.  So one of the first things to do, is to clean out the cupboards of all processed food.  Process foods are toxic, poison.  And just like you probably wouldn't knowingly swallow a bottle of poison, we eat these foods every day and they are slowly poisoning us.
Now the harder problem comes when you don't know what is in your foods.  Often we think we are eating healthy, not knowing that the ear of corn you are eating has been genetically modified, or sprayed with pesticides, or that piece of chicken you are eating has been shot up with hormones or antibiotics and other poisons that we may not know about, so what you think you are eating, you are not.
I remember once I went to the gas station to put gas in my car, something that is supposed to be good for my car, and did not realize that somehow water had gotten into the gas lines.  Water is not something that you want to put into your gas tank, and when I went to start my car it wouldn't start.  I had given my car poison.  The poor gas station owner did not know that he was giving us poison for our cars, and immediately shut down all the pumps and called a mechanic out to fix not only my car but several other cars who had also had this poison put into their gas tanks.
Just like my car, there are times when you know immediately that you have put poison into your body.  You may be tired after eating, think about it food is the fuel to make your body run does it make since for you to feel tired immediately after eating?  Other affects of eating the wrong things, you may not feel right away, but maybe you will feel bloated, sick, gain weight, etc.  These are all signs that you have put poisons or toxins into your body.
So on this program we want to eat whole foods that are not toxic.
We will get into exactly what to eat later on, but for today, why not clean out your cupboards of processed foods, and fill your refrigerator of lots of organic fresh veggies and berries.

The Next Chapter

Yesterday I allowed myself some leeway in my eating, and you know I really didn't enjoy it.  What tasted good as I was eating, made me just feel sick and tired as the night went on.  I didn't even eat that much, and ate early in the day and still it effected my whole night.
Very excited to be starting my new diet plan today.  Now it is about focusing on five key area of health and training my body to eat healthy.  I will be focused on eating clean, increasing my nutrient intake, eliminating allergenic and addictive foods, balancing my blood sugar and supporting elimination organs.
By focusing on these areas I will be using for the correct way to nourish and feed my body, not for reasons of comfort or boredom.  Many times we eat for all the wrong reasons, so I want to not only concentrate on eating correctly, but really listening to my body and meeting the needs of my body.  The body will tell you when to eat, how much to eat and what to eat.  The problem is that we have ignored our bodies for so long, that we can no longer hear what it is saying to us.  We feel sick, but we don't know why, we eat when we are full and don't listen to our bodies saying enough already, we eat food that doesn't do anything to help our bodies function correctly and find ourselves slowly killing ourselves.
So coming off the juice fast is a good time, to get to know my body, start listening to it, and giving it what it needs to survive.
Tomorrow, I will talk about eating clean, what does that mean and why do it.

Next Chapter

Well, I have completed my juice fast and now I"m ready for the next chapter in my overall transformation to a new lighter, healthier me.  I am happy to say that I am down over 10 pounds from when I started the juice fast.  I feel better, my clothes fit better and yesterday I was able to get into a pair a jeans that I had in the back of my closet because they were too tight.  I wore them yesterday and what a since of accomplishment wearing something that I once could not button.
So today, I am continuing with my exercise routine in the morning, but feeling now that I will be adding more food and protein to my diet, I will add in an evening weight routine, to start reshaping my body.
I will now do a protein shake in the morning, instead of a juice, which I did this morning, and will go shopping today to make sure that I have my kitchen stocked with the foods needed to start the new phase tomorrow.  My husband and I are going to go to lunch today, so I will allow myself something healthy off the menu.
I will not only be sharing with you how this new phase is going, but I will be sharing some tips, information, and advise to anyone else who would like to start to change their lives and their bodies.
Can't wait to get started, come back tomorrow for the beginning of chapter 2.

Finishing Strong

They say it's not how you start, it's how you finish the race that counts.  So, today we are on the last day of our juice fast, the finish line is in view and the taste of victory is at hand.  I have to tell you though yesterday the voices in my head were trying to derail my from the reaching the finish line.
This is how those voices were going, "you already have done so well, one day won't matter", "you already have done more than most people, what does it matter if it's nine days or ten days", it amazing how much we can fight against ourselves when we are trying to accomplish something.  When we are trying to pursue our goals, our passions, our purpose.
It is something that I must work on constantly, I am getting better about distancing myself from others that try to deter me, but distancing myself from myself now that is a different matter altogether.
The Bible tells us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, and that is where it starts.  Whenever we try to do something different, something that seems out of the norm for our bodies or mind, our bodies and minds want to go back to what is known, what is comfortable, even if that is destructive and doesn't serve us.  So renewing our minds is very important and essential.  The word used for renewing means a renovation, a complete change for the better.  That is what we need a renovation.  If you have ever renovated a part of your home, you know that they will tear out and get rid of the parts that don't serve the new design and get rid of it.  They will then replace the part that has been torn out with new, things that are in alignment with the vision for the project.  In the same way, we must tear out, get rid of the things in our minds that are not in alignment with our renovation, and replace those thoughts that are in alignment.
We do this by what we allow to fill our minds, what we read, what we watch, what we listen to, who we listen to, what we think about, what we meditate on.
This is where the real change comes from, this is where true transformation comes from.

Down to the last couple of days

Here we are down to the last couple of days.  I have today and tomorrow left on my 10 day juice fast.  Its very exciting to see how my body is changing, my clothes are fitting better and I feel better about how I look, so I can feel myself walk differently and present myself differently.  When you feel better about yourself, you whole outlook starts to change and then that starts to poor over into all other areas of life.  In your relationships, your business, your spiritual life, every area.
The thing we get hung up on is trying change everything at once.  We sit down with a whole host of goals that seem so big and we try, try, try to accomplish them and then when we fail, we give up and believe ourselves to be loses.  But if we start with small things, maybe just one area of life that we want to change and concentrate on the area with small daily activities then we can give ourselves a since of accomplishment that will help us tackle other areas of life.  With each small victory we grow stronger and stronger, being able to look at ourselves with "Wow, I did that", and if "I did that, what else can I do today?".  We are made in the image of an awesome God, so the next time you want to be hard on yourself and beat yourself up, just remember whose image you carry around with you.
Today do something awesome and enjoy the accomplishment.  You may have to change your thinking about what awesome is, remember its pretty awesome to wake up in the morning and be able to get out of bed and go for a walk, sit at the feet of God and spend time alone with him, to make a phone call to a love one you haven't spoken to in awhile, to forgive, to love.
YOU ARE AWESOME!!!!!

Day Eight and Making it through the Weekend

So here I am on day eight of the 10 day juice fast.  I'm surprised but it really has gone by quickly.  Made it through the weekend, which tend to be harder for me generally, because it feels like your routine just get's messed up.  You may go out, do something different, whatever, just isn't the normal day to day routine that I'm used to.
Did go out yesterday, went downtown to walk around and visits shops.  It was a very enjoyable day, but still since my friend is not fasting, it was hard when she was hungry to watch her eat.  But I stayed focus on what was important to me and also how well I had done up until then, so I stayed true to my fast.
You know being on this fast has turned out to be about more than a chance to jump start my weight loss and health, it is also been about a since of accomplishment, and overcoming obstacles.  I hear from so many people, "I could never do that", I now I know that I can.  So if I can do this what else could I do.  Where in my life have I told myself that "I could never or I can't"  Or when I have started something and then quit because of some difficulty or obstacle.  I know have a frame of reference that says I did something that others thought was too difficult, something that others were afraid to even try, that is pretty cool.
This should help me in so many areas of my life.
Well this fast is almost to the end, but it will not be the end of my blogging. More tomorrow.

Day 5 Made it Half Way

Well today is day five of my 10 day juice fast.  Made it half way, so that's pretty exciting.  Feeling good, lost another half a pound.  As I get to day five, I 'm starting to think what's next.  After I finish this juice fast what next for my eating and diet.  I have decided to go from the 10 day juice fast to the Arbonne 30 days to fit program.  That way I will begin eating food, but still maintain a healthy lifestyle.  Plus it will be easy on my system as to not make me sick.  Looking forward to the continued change in my overall health and well-being.   Feeling healthy and strong that is good, clothes are lose, so I guess for Christmas and Birthday this year I will ask for clothes of gift certificates for new clothing.
I have decided that I will keep juicing as part of my diet and lifestyle for ever, for the vitamins and nutrients that I get in each glass.
Ok, so well I thought I had lost my post, because the computer messed up and all I saw was a blank page, but no worries it was saved and I found it.  Don't you hate when things like that happen.
So that is enough for today, looking forward to the weekend, staying strong continued juicing.

Day 4 and Going Strong

Yesterday was a pretty good day, did not feel hungry like the previous two days.  Down another pound today, so very excited about that.  I'm actually starting to feel more energy, less tired like I can do more each day.  Glad to be over the initial hump where I was feeling week and tired.  Going through lots of fruits and vegetables though, need to go to the store every couple of days to pick something up, was out of oranges this morning, which I really missed particularly in my morning juice.
It's amazing the flavors you get just by mixing and combining different fruits and vegetables.
You start to really taste the flavors of the ingredients.  Celery can be a little over powering, so I limit the number of celery stocks that I use to just one per juice.  Really enjoy the spinach and kale, this I try to make the majority of my juice.  Always put in one apple, I like the tartness of the green apples, however others seem to like the red ones.  Then try to have some sort of citrus fruit.  Besides that, it's just whatever I find at the store, opting for organic produce whenever I can find it.  Don't want to ruin the effects of the juice with a lot of chemicals.
Hoping today will be a great day.  Come back tomorrow to hear more how me juice fast is going.
HAPPY JUICING ALL!!!

Day Three, But who's Counting?

I have to admit, yesterday was hard.  I was out with appointments and it seemed that food is everywhere in this country.  Every corner, every meeting, everywhere.  I felt like one of those cartoons where you have the devil you on one shoulder and the angel you on the other both fighting to get me to do what they want me to do.  One voice saying, just one bite won't hurt, no one has to know, it will just be our secret.  Then the other voice saying, but people are following your blog, what will you tell them?  It's only 10 days, you can do anything for 10 days.  And so on and so on.   But at the end of the day, I listen to the "angel" side and stay true to the juice fast.   So this morning I am happy to say that I am down another 2 pounds.  That makes it five pounds since I started the fast.
I hope that me doing this juice fast will motivate, inspire you or someone to maybe look at their own lives and maybe make a change to their current eating habits.
Feeling Strong!!!! Feeling Motivated!!!! Feeling Healthy!!!!

If you write it they will read: Day 2

If you write it they will read: Day 2: So finished the first day of the juice fast.  It wasn't as hard as I had thought, although I did get hungry in the afternoon before dinner. ...

Day 2

So finished the first day of the juice fast.  It wasn't as hard as I had thought, although I did get hungry in the afternoon before dinner.  Woke up yesterday and exercised, then had my juice for breakfast.
I was going to be out at lunch time, so I made a juice in the morning, put it in a to go container and put it in the freezer until I was ready to leave.  I sipped on that and drank water while I was out, I had two meetings, and was able to drink my juice during the meetings.
It was until about 3 or 4 yesterday afternoon that I was beginning to feel hungry, I was also tired yesterday afternoon and took about a half an hour nap.   After my dinner juice, I was fine for the rest of the night.
This morning, I noticed that during my exercise time, I was a little tired and didn't feel like I worked out to the level that I am used to.  But I believe that is just my body adjusting.
I like the juices and experiment with different tastes.
I am happy to say that I was three pounds lighter this morning, so that is exciting.
Feel good today, getting ready to go make my lunchtime juice.  Also drinking lots of water to help with the hunger.
I am being supervised by a doctor and did a urine test this morning to see how my levels were.  It will be interesting to see not only the changes in my body as I lose the weight, but to see the difference in my blood and urine tests.
Thanks for following me on my journey.  More to come tomorrow.

10 days of Change

Today I started on a 10 day juice fast, yes that's right 10 days of nothing but juicing.  Now why would someone want to go on a 10 day juice fast, you might ask.  Well there are a couple of reasons that I chose to start this fast.  The first was watching the movie "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead", if you have not watched that movie, I highly recommend the movie.  In the movie Joe Cross goes on a 60 days juice fast, to not only lose weight but because he had a chronic illness and was on several medications that were making him sicker.

Now, fortunately, I am not taking any medications and although I am fairly healthy I know that I need to lose weight and if I was to continue on the path that I was on, it was very likely that I would need to be on medications at some point in the near future.

So what did I do, where did I start?  I started by making slow changes to my diet and lifestyle.  Now I used to be a big or should I say BIG diet soda drinker.  I would stop every morning on the way to work to get the extra large soda at the nearest fast food restaurant I could find, and of course since I was using my Debit card anyways, I might as well get me one of the breakfast sandwiches and hash browns, I mean who wants to use there debit card for just a dollar soda?  Now you would think that would be my only soda a day, but no, come lunch time I was ready for another diet soda to go with my lunch.  So the first thing I did was to cut diet sodas out of my diet.  That was a big first step for me.

The next thing I did after watching the movie "Forks over Knives" I cut meat out of my life.  No red meat, no chicken, no fish.  This was actually not too difficult for me, I learn to eat more beans and drank a protein shake every morning to give me the protein that I needed.  Now at this point I only cut out meat, I was not by any shape of the imagination a "vegetarian"  which I presume to mean that I filled up on vegetables.  No, I just cut the meat, my diet was more breads, chips, beans, some fruit in my protein shake, cheese and dairy products.   Not healthy but part of my journey.

Now after more movies stressing the importance of vegetables, I started grilling the vegetables and found that I really liked vegetables in this form and I got rid of the dairy products.  No more milk, cheese, sour cream etc.  Now I'm was eating more veggies, and learning to actually like them.
Then I bought a juicer, which sat on the kitchen counter for weeks because I was too afraid to use it.  I couldn't wrap my head around the idea of juicing and how you could possibly get juice out of spinach for example.  I was also afraid of messing up and making something that I hated and then wasting all of those vegetables.  But eventually I got up the nerve to go for it, and to my surprise the juice tasted good.  So now I can actually call myself not only a vegetarian but I vegan.

So here we are today and start of my 10 day juice fast, so why?  Because although I have lost weight, I have found myself at a plateau so I am going on this 10 day juice fast to get over the plateau and to take my body through new changes.

So I hope you will follow my journey as I share the adventures on this 10 day juice fast.

Time to Empower

So yesterday we talked about how Hormones get out of balance.  And maybe it sounded a little hopeless. So today is all about empowering with the knowledge of what you can do.
First thing that you can do, is to get knowledge.  Next time you go into the doctor's office don't just follow blindly when they prescribe medications, or recommend a treatment program ask questions and then do your own research.  Particularly when it comes to things like birth control, hormone replacement etc.  What are the side effects? Is it bio-identical? RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH.  It is your body, so you decide what goes into it.
Birth Control pills, progestin, are not bio-identical.  They can cause cancer.  Find other alternatives.
Next read labels!!! Read the labels on your food, your skin care, anything that goes into your body or on your body you need to read the labels.  What should you look for when reading labels? Hormone Free, antibiotics free, no mineral oil, no parabens, no animal by-products.  These are just a few things to look for.
Cut the stress, I know easier said than done, but take time for yourself, exercise, relax, detox, read a book, take a walk, anything to de-stress.
Get away from harmful, toxic cleaning products.
If you change the way you eat, research your medications, de-stress and pay attention to the toxins in your cleaning products you will go a long way to help balance your hormones.
Finally, you can take bio-identical Progesterone.  What should you look for in Progesterone Cream, well of course it should be bio-identical, it should be standardized, in a airtight container and not be based on mineral oil.  Why would you want to avoid mineral oil?
Check back tomorrow and I will tell you all about mineral oil and other harmful ingredients found in most of your personal care products.
Check out my Facebook page for products that I recommend.

Enough is Enough

I met this morning with a friend of mine, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.  We talked a long time about what the doctor said and about what she wanted to do.
As I write this, I feel frustrated that I have so many of my friends with breast cancer.  Sometimes it just makes me want to scream, "Enough is Enough"  Not another one of friends, no cancer back off, go away, leave my friends alone.
I know that yelling at the cancer will not make it go away, but I wonder is there something we can do?  Can we make the cancer go away without subjecting ourselves to chemo, radiation or surgery.  Are there other ways to fight back?  And what about the cancer in the first place, can we lower our odds of getting cancer altogether?
Well there may be ways to fight back, ways to put you in control, to not have to play the victim to breast cancer.
As women we have two dominate hormones, we have more than two, but women have two dominate ones they are Estrogen and Progesterone.  To understand the part that these two hormones play in breast cancer we must first understand how they work.  If you think of your car, you have two main pedals, the brake and the accelerator.  The brake of course makes your car stop and your accelerator makes your car go.  Both are important and both have their function in operating the car.  Well in your body Estrogen would be like your accelerator, but instead of making your car go, Estrogen is a growth hormone that makes things grown.  Think breasts, hips, the lining in your uterus, Estrogen is what makes us soft and curvy, a good thing.  And Progesterone is a like your brake, it helps make you calm, happy, slows down the growth that Estrogen started.  Both are needed in our bodies.
So what's the problem?  The problem comes when we have too much Estrogen and not enough Progesterone.  Think back to your car, if you only had an accelerator and not a break that would be very bad, as you're driving down the freeway and come up on stopped traffic.  Like your car, if you have too much Estrogen and not enough Progesterone, then instead of getting in an accident, you get all kinds of bad side effects: PMS, Hot-flashes, heavy periods, migraines, etc. and of course you can get breast cancer, because what is cancer but uncontrolled growth.
So why do we have too much Estrogen?  There are several factors that contribute to an over abundance of Estrogen or what is known as being Estrogen Dominant.  This first being prescription drugs, if you are like most women, probably at sometime in your life you went to the gynecologist and he put you on birth control.  Maybe it was to prevent pregnancy, maybe to regulate your periods, maybe for some other reason, but what he didn't tell you was that he was that he was giving you a Hormonal contraceptives (the pill, the patch, and the vaginal ring) all contain a small amount of man-made estrogen and progestin hormones.  So two things, not only was he giving you estrogen, he was also giving you a man-made form of progestin.  You notice that I did not say Progesterone.  Progestin is not Progerterone and it does act the same way in our bodies, in fact it is very dangerous and has been known to cause, what? Breast Cancer.  So we are getting more Estrogen, that our bodies do not need and we are getting something that is dangerous to our bodies.
Another reason that we become Estrogen Dominant is from what we eat.  Ok think back to what I said about what Estrogen does, it grows things.  So if you wanted grow cows, chickens etc. faster to get them to market faster to make more money what would you give the cows to make them grow faster?  That's right, you would give them Estrogen.  So in turn when we eat these animals we are ingesting the hormones.
The third thing that contributes to Estrogen dominance is what is called Xenoestrongens or false Estrogen.  This can be found in so many products that you use everyday.  Your shampoo, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, the list can go on and on.  False Estrogen gets into your body and your body does not know what to do with it.  It can start growth that the body will not be able to turn off.
The final thing I want to talk about today is the role of stress and hormone imbalance.  When you are stressed you actually deplete that amount of Progesterone in your body.  So you are Estrogen dominant by virtue of the fact that you have less Progesterone.  Which of course is you calming, happy hormone, which makes you more stressed.  Wow what a vicious cycle that can be.
So we know the problem, now what can we do?  Come back tomorrow.

New Chapter

Here I am ready to start a new chapter in my life.  My first day of being unemployed, at least the kind of employment that most people think about.  But now is the time, to be free from the time constraints of a 9 to 5 job, free from someone else telling me what to do, free from someone else telling me how much I am worth, free to see where God will lead.
I know that everything that has happened up until now, every job that I have held, every volunteer position has led up to this point.
So what I am feeling? What will I do?  First, I would not be truthful if I didn't say that I was a little apprehensive, a little nervous, a scared even.  But at the same time, I am excited, anticipatory, and for the first time in a long time at peace.
So where will I start?  I will start with what I know and what I love and what I believe God has placed in me.  Take for instance blogging, I love writing and have been told that I am good at it, writing is one of those things that Paralegals do after all, so I will write.  I will share my passion, my journey, my knowledge with anyone who will listen.
My passion is life, health, wellness, helping others, and learning.  That is what I will share on these pages, so I hope that if you are not already, that you would follow me.
I have also always wanted to write a book, so I will begin that journey.
I will speak, I will post to Youtube and other social medias my knowledge and passions.
And of course the bills still have to paid, so the vehicle to do what I love will be Arbonne.  Arbonne and all of its health and wellness products fits perfectly with this new lifestyle that I am carving out for myself.  It will allow me to help others decide where their passion lies and will help them to reach whatever the are trying to obtain.
I believe that everything that happens to us, happens for a reason, and that God truly works everything out for good, for those who are called by his name.  Now is the time to put my belief into practice.  To step out in faith.
This blog will be an offshoot of my newsletter, so if you have not already done so, please join my mailing list.

Wake Up Call

There are certain things that happen in life, that come along, that are wake up calls.  One of those came yesterday, and it didn't happen to me directly, but happen to a friend, a co-worker of mine.  I knew that things had gotten tight at work, that we needed to watch what we spend.  But even knowing this, what happened yesterday took me totally by surprised.  I wasn't even in the office when it happened, I was out doing an event for my "Business", I was what I like to call "working my business" when it happened.  That is when they let my friend go at work.  No warning, just thank you for your time, you may take the rest of the day off.  She called my right after it happened.  At that time, I didn't know how bad things were at work, I didn't know if I would have a job when I went back.
And then I started thinking, is this what I want?  Do I want to continuing working a "JOB" where every day could be my last day? Where I make what someone else has determined that I am worth or what the office can afford?  Do I want to work the hours that someone else has prescribed to me?  Work the days someone else tells me to?
The answer was an overwhelming NO!!!!  This is not what I want.  For although, I still have that JOB today, who knows about Monday, next week, next month.
Back to "working my business" I know I said that I was out "working my business" but I had to stop and think, was I really?  Do I actually go out with intention, when I attend different events for my business?  Or do I go out and what ever happens, happens, I will just wait and see?  I know the answer.
If I was fully committed to my business, working it with intention, single focus, with my eye on the prize then I would be much further along then I am now.
So today, I will refocus on what I want, where I am going and how I am going to get there.  I will work with intention, knowing before each phone call, each meeting, each email, each time I step out of the house or get one the computer, what is it that I want to accomplish.  What is the purpose for this activity?  And then I will complete the task with that purpose in mind, knowing that the end result will be exactly what I purposed it to be.
I will pray each day, before the day begins, asking God for what He wants me to do that day, and then seeking His guidance on how to accomplish what it is that He has set before me.  I will pray before, during and after each activity.  And above all, I will praise God for everything that happens.  I will learn from things that did not go the way that was intended.  I will share with my team, and accountability partners all that happens, knowing that I need to surround myself with like minded people and help others to do the same.
I will support others, always be gracious with people, follow through with promises, always remember that people are more important than gaining a sell, or new recruit.  I will work my business with integrity, knowing that who I am, is more important than what I do or what I sell.
Today I will begin this process, today I will do whatever it takes to be the person that God has called me to be, and to help others do the same.  The time is now for I am not guaranteed tomorrow.
I make this commitment to God, myself, my family, my friends and to you and ask for you to hold me accountable for everything I have written and committed too.
God Bless

Being Human

What does it mean to be human and who decide?  Are we human by virture of the fact that we are alive?  Or is it something else that makes us human?  Do we become human in our mothers' wombs or when someone recognizes us as human? Does the law determine who is human and who is not?  Does society?  Does God? Is it the same for everyone?
These are questions that I have been pondering and through my pondering, God has placed it on my heart to write a book on what it means to be human.
My plan is to interview people and ask what does it mean to be human and who decides.  I would like to interview several people for my book from all walks of life and all ages.  I want to ask kids what does it mean to be human, I want to talk to mothers who have suffered from a miscarriage, parents of children who were born with some sort of disability.  Those who have had to make tough decisions about keeping a loved one alive or taking them off life support.
I want to talk to anyone who was made to feel less then human by another.  Maybe by an abusive spouse, or by someone because of your race, your religion, your nationality.  Perhaps because of your circumstances you now feel less than human because you are homeless, over weight, loss part of your body in war.
I would like to police, military, doctors that have had to forget about the humanity of a person in order to do their job.  Or the detective, police, or attorney who had to remember that the person that they are looking for, getting justice for is human and not just another case or statistic.
If you have a story, or a thought that you would like to share and would be willing to be interview, please contact me with your information.  Your story can be anonymous, if you would like or if you want I can use your name, your first name, an initial or fake name.
I can't guarantee any money for your story, for I am not even sure where this will lead, but if there is money made I will compensate all contributors.  Any experience that you have about being human, feeling less than human, or what it means to be human I will listen to.
